A new scarf just for me! I love it. I didn't follow a pattern, I just single crocheted the entire thing using Lion Brand Homespun yarn in in the color "Windsor." It's really pretty! It goes from a nice blue-violet to a blackish blue then to a green and repeats. Though... I might've added too much fringe... you can't have too much of it can you? I'm going to make a matching hat since I have most of a skein left. ♥

Mom's Scarf 2.0
When I was in high school and first learned how to crochet I told my mom that I'd make her a scarf and got the yarn and stuff for it, but since I got stuck on The Badly Crocheted First Scarf I never got around to it. I actually started this before her owl, but I'm ADD and can't work on just one thing and the owl was quicker. This was originally wider and was going to have a cream stripe on each end, but then my mom and I were in the mall and she saw some short scarves with buttons and declared that she wanted one like those, so I wound up undoing the whole scarf and starting over after having two feet done. I did, however, learn how to make a yarn ball. Once it was unraveled, I finished this while watching two movies.
The yarn I used is Lion Suede and I used single crochet using the back loops for the cool texture. The toggle is something we had laying around in the button collection. I'm kind of jealous because it's so much nicer than The Badly Crocheted First Scarf, but now I'm working on a crazy fuzzy scarf of death.

The Badly Crocheted First Scarf
My very first project! It's also very badly crocheted. But before I go too far into that, I'll go ahead and thank my friend, Destiny, for ever getting me interested in crochet. When we were in high school she was always doing it and finally, when we were in the car to go to A-kon one year, she taught me the basics. Sadly, I didn't really start crocheting right away. Later that year I was stuck in bed due to illness and I had a grossly overdue library book on crochet out and started this scarf. Sadly, it was so badly crocheted I didn't work on it much after I was ill. Finally, I decided "I shall finish that scarf!" and did at last and now I'm strangely proud of it because it is The Badly Crocheted First Scarf.
I used Lion Brand chenille yarn on it because I love chenille. Sadly, that's a poor choice for someone new to crochet because it makes keeping the tension even even harder than normal. It spirals since I gradually got tighter as I went. I also used a hook that was a bit too small for yarn that thick, so even where it's "loose" it's still quite tight. Overall, it is a very dense scarf, not only because of the small hook but also because I used back loop single crochet because I liked the somewhat ribbed look.
I only ever really wear this to work because my coworkers already know I'm weird. I don't really wear it elsewhere much...
